It was sad to read this email today about the upcoming event on Tuesday May 9 from 5:30 p.m - 7:30 p.m.  "Salute to the Capital Ideas community" A Farewell Event.  NEBA's start came from the support of Capital Ideas helping to get our event information out to their community and we are deeply grateful for all they have done for the businesses and individuals.  [RSVP for Capital Ideas Event]

Also, due to a schedule conflict, we have had to move our last Business Mixer & Tradeshow Event (before the summer break) from May 18 to June 13, 2017.  Still held at Source Office Furnishings, we are excited to have businesses, community leagues and special interest groups to join us as tradeshow vendors - showcasing your products, services and being present.

They will research you over 67% of the time before they talk to you, how about making it possible for them to meet you in person and see what you have to offer.   Join us as one of our tradeshow vendors - tables are $95 for NEBA members and $115 for Non-Members. [BOOK A Tradeshow Table / Sponsor June 13 Event]

Looking to get increased visibility?  Check out our sponsorship packages and find out how you can be in front of the crowd.  [June 13 - NEBA Business Mixer & Tradeshow Event Details] You can also reach out to us at info@neba.ca or 780 803 1678 (Loan Gowers) for more information.

SILENT AUCTION ITEMS - DONATION.   Silent auction items will be available for you to bid on.  We invite community leagues to join us at this event - the more members who come out to join - one ballet will be given to each CML members for the final draw.  All silent auction items proceeds will be donated to the winning ballot from the draw.

Can your CML benefit from getting some funds for a program or project or event you are planning?  Let your members help and support in your cause by getting a ballot into the draw.   For business owners and professionals - if you have silent auction items that you could donate for this cause, please let us know at info@neba.ca or (780) 803-1678.  Thank you and good luck to everyone!

North West Edmonton Seniors Society is working on: Empowering Seniors to Create Safer Communities - Let’s invest in our futures!

Vision
All age groups treat each other with respect and understand the value each member of society adds to the community.

Mission
Through presentations, dialogue, and activities, we will promote the positive aspects of aging and the contributions seniors make to the community.

Goal
To provide accurate information about ageing and older adults in the community & to reduce the stigma of ageing.

Objectives
1) To demystify what it is to be an older person. To provide the facts.
2) To effect a change in how others view older persons. To create dialogue.
3) To effect a change in how others interact with older persons. To set up interactive intergenerational activates.
4) To create awareness about issues that affect older adults and take action.

Elder Abuse initiative
Raising public awareness is key to addressing elder abuse. In discussing it openly we can work towards creating an environment where it can be recognised and addressed.

Goals of this project are:
• To promote the awareness and recognition of all types of abuse of older adults.
• To increase the safety and security of older adults within communities. To educate older adults, as well as family members and professionals providing services and support to them.
• To develop community connections so that those interested in prevention of abuse of older adults can work together.

It's Not Right!
Attend a free information presentation and learn how...
• Attitudes about older adults can lead to abuse.
• As a neighbor, friend or family member, know how to respond safely and supportively to someone experiencing abuse.
• Learn to "See it, Name it and Check it" - and easy way to recognize and do something about abuse.

SEE IT!
Recognize the warning signs of abuse.

NAME IT!
Talk to the older adult. Name your concern.

CHECK IT!
Ask questions, check with professionals, check for danger - help with safe planning.

Neighbors, friends and family members can make a difference in the life of an older adult who may be experiencing abuse or neglect. Even your small actions can make a big difference.
