Individuals achieving their work-life potential.
On Site Placement is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing employment related services to individuals with ongoing medical conditions or disabilities in the Edmonton region.
OSP was founded in 1981 by Donna Garvin and Helena Burke. Together, they realized the need for more supports for people with ongoing medical conditions and disabilities. Recognizing the gap between hardworking individuals with disabilities and employers willing to support them, OSP bridges the gap and provides “on site” employment supports.
OSP is indebted to the leadership of Helena and Donna, who envisioned a future where all citizens participate fully in society. Beginning as a handful of individuals working with limited resources, OSP has flourished and is serving well over 300 clients each year.
In 2001, OSP became a charitable organization under the Societies Act as “On Site Placement Services Association.”
We strive to achieve successful, meaningful employment for both our clients and their employers.
On Site Placement (OSP) is designed to assist job seekers and temporary workers with ongoing medical conditions or disabilities find work.
We offer individuals with ongoing medical conditions and disabilities the following employment supports and services:
- Walk-in services
- Job search supports, career planning, and employability assessments
- Assistive technology, devices, and supports
- Programs that offer one-on-one support and individualized strategies to help our clients reach their goals
Programs at OSP are funded by Alberta Human Services, Service Canada, and Alberta Health Services.
At Jump 360 Trampoline Park, we pride ourselves in offering a fun, safe and memorable experience for all our jumpers — wether you are a child attending a birthday party or the young at heart who just want to burn off some energy, we strive in making sure that we exceed our customer’s expectations all the time.
I had the opportunity to attend Disney’s Approach to Quality Service, a course offered by the Disney Institute and was recently held here in Edmonton. And they talked about how we play close attention to the very little things that to us seem nothing but enhances our customer’s experiences while visiting our business. We also should look specifically at those potentially overlooked details that will enable us and our team to connect emotionally and build relationships with our customers.
So you ask, why is this important? At Disney, they see that the power of service lies in its ability to create an emotional connection rather than a purely rational connection — and those emotional connections that they create will in turn lead to economic outcomes.
In fact, emotionally engaged customers tend to be:
- At least three times more likely to recommend
- Three times more likely to repurchase
- Less likely to shop around
- Much less price sensitive
Creating that personal interaction and building those relationships with our customer doesn't have to be difficult. During a recent visit to a movie theatre, I noticed that each employee who was wearing a name tag had their name, and also displayed was what seems to me was their favourite movie. By adding this little bit of extra information, it creates opportunities for personal conversation: “I have seen that movie as well and I really enjoyed it,” or, “I recently run saw that movie on an online movie streaming service, what did you like about it?” This little friendly interaction can create that instant bond between us and our customer.
Consider this: What little things can we implement now to connect emotionally and build personal relationships with our customers?
