North Edmonton - MLAs (Provincial)

Thank you for the opportunity once again to provide you with an update from my office.  On March 8th, the Spring Session of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta will commence and I am looking forward to representing my constituents of Edmonton-Decore in the Legislature.

My staff and I were honored to participate in the Lunar New Year Celebration held at Londonderry Mall on February 24th.  Thank you to Londonderry Mall and the North Edmonton Business Association for putting on such an amazing and well attended event.  It was a pleasure to meet and to speak with so many of my constituents.

I would like to take this opportunity to mention some upcoming events that our Constituency Office will be hosting in the near future.

Our 2nd Annual “A Taste of Decore” will be held on April 28 at the Northgate Lions Seniors Recreation Centre from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.  We are very proud of the fact that there are numerous NEBA members participating.  This year, we have the main area which will host the performances and numerous organizations.  We will have a room with organizations that serve children, as well as numerous free activities for children and families.  We will also have a mini North Edmonton Market with numerous vendors.  There will also be activities outside (weather permitting) and numerous prizes to be won.  Please save the date and come out and discover all the wonderful organizations and businesses that we have in Edmonton-Decore and North Edmonton.

I am also very pleased to announce that my office will be hosting two very special events in June.  On June 10th, we will be partnering with Dickinsfield Amity House and Northmount Community League for the 2nd Annual Super Hero Day.  We are also very proud to be hosting the first ever Pride event in our riding, Pride in Northmount Park, along with our friends at Dickinfield Amity House, Northmout Community League and the Alberta Sex Positive Education & Community Centre on June 14th.  If you would like to participate in either of these events, please e-mail or call my Constituency Manager Maria-Elizabeth Vicente at 780-414-1328 or

As always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact my constituency office at any time. I look forward to seeing you and meeting you at the next NEBA event.

President's Report

I can still remember being asked to go and talk to Medical Laboratory Technologist in three different hospitals before I would get accepted into the program.  After talking to two individuals at two different hospitals, happy to say that I changed my career path to business!

We get approach by students and individuals who are looking for opportunities to volunteer, explore career paths or choices, find out what they have an interest in or just getting exposure to the work environment.  It can be challenging answering that first question - what do I want to do?

We've had an opportunity to look into work experience through Edmonton Public Schools.  These programs are already in place - it's a matter of matching professionals and/or businesses to students who have expressed an interest in being a part of it.  We were very pleased to see the course that a student would need to complete to prepare them for the work experience.

We are looking to see how North Edmonton Business Association can work with EPSB Work Experience Programs matching members and/or sponsors with students.   NEBA has taken the first step and engaged the services of a student in an administrative role to assist the association in delivering our mission, servicing members and sponsors, hosting events and our various social media platforms.

Please help our team to welcome, Keisha, to the association as our work experience student in role of Administrative Assistant.  We look forward to being a part of your work experience journey and mentoring you in the areas of business management, marketing, finance and more.

If you like to explore how you and your company can be a part of this program, we encourage you to reach out to your local Edmonton Public Schools and let's give a student a chance!
