It is our pleasure to welcome new and renewing members to NEBA.  We look forward to profiling them in our Mid-March e-newsletter: Merlin Shredding Inc, Consultasia Global - North America, The Comfy Backpacker Travel & Tours / Marianatha Tours, Lina's Optimal Health, World Financial Group (Kristine Page), and Worker's Compensation Board (WCB)

For the past few years, as NEBA entered into the growth phase of the business cycle, we focused on working on the business instead of in the business.  It is fantastic news to announce that we have been very successful in putting together our administrative support team to help service our members, sponsors and events.  This increases NEBA's ability to deliver more such as the Spring Mixer & Job Fair (April 25) and Health Expo with Northgate Center (May 30).

We hope you had a chance to meet our team members last night at NEBA's After Work Mixer.  Very grateful to have the attendees support last night helping us to  raise $190.00 donation for Sport Explorerz, NEBA's Charity of Choice for this event.  This donation helps them to deliver programs to engage children in physical activity and help them further develop movement abilities, coordination, social skills, and overall confidence through modified games and activities.

Sport Explorerz is a program developed and run by six community leagues in Edmonton, Alberta: Kilkenny, Horse Hill, McLeod, Northmount, Evansdale, and Lago Lindo.

Tips & Ideas for You and Your Business

by Jazmine Struthers, Business Development Manager - Spectrum Safety Services: First Aid Kits

Hello. Id like to take a moment of your time to talk about First Aid Kits. Its important to know what is in one, for what purpose, and to keep the items updated. There are no regulations for personal first aid kits. They range in many different sizes and items. We suggest always adding additional barrier devices to protect yourself and others along with multiple pairs of vinyl gloves, Aspirin, larger burn dressings and a first aid manual . The most important thing to remember is to protect yourself first before assisting others. Having a kit inside your home and one in your car is ideal to be prepared for an emergency at anytime. For work use there is a handy reference chart in the OH&S Alberta handbook. You can look up S2-6, S2-7, S2-8 to easily find out which kit works best for your place of business

I Personally was walking through a major clothing retail company a couple years ago and cut my leg on a piece of metal display they had sticking out. The First Aid Kit had no Band-Aids due to their employees using them for feet blisters. I had to stand there with my leg bleeding while the manager ran around to try and find some paper towels. Don’t let this happen to your company!

I encourage you to take a quick peek at your offices First Aid kit, check expiry dates, and add additional items if needed. You’ll stay in compliance and also be ready just in case an emergency happens!

If you need more information or have a question feel free to reach out and I would be happy to help you.
