Monthly Commentary

Looking at the Municipal election in the fall, there's already a 25% change.  A bottom up approach (from Ward level) or Top Down approach (City as a whole first) - many key projects, issues and concerns will start to line up in priorities for voters to make their decision on their representative.    More and more attention to the political landscape - new PC Leader at the Federal Level, and more to come for the Provincial Level.   Minority government in BC - how does this affect our economy and potential?  Being consciously competent of events affecting our business potential and opportunities - makes each face to face interaction that much more valuable.

North Edmonton - MLAs (Provincial)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the 1st Annual “A Taste of Decore”, including the North Edmonton Business Association.  The event took place on April 29 at the Northgate Lions Seniors Recreation Centre and had well over 30 organizations and businesses take part, as well as 3 performance groups.  It is estimated that over 500 people attended and everyone had a great time!  It was a wonderful way to showcase and highlight the amazing organizations and businesses that we have here in North Edmonton.

As such, I am pleased to announce that we have already booked the 2nd Annual “A Taste of Decore” for April 28, 2018 at the Northgate Lions Seniors Recreation Centre.  If your business or organization is interested in participating, please e-mail my Constituency Office at Edmonton.Decore@assembly.ab.ca.  Registration packages will be available in September and we will ensure that we will get them out to you.  Let’s make the 2nd Annual “A Taste of Decore” bigger and better and show just how wonderful North Edmonton is!

Earlier this year, I continued my business outreach and visited all the businesses in the Balwin Community, and began to visit the businesses in the Killarney Community.  I had many great conversations with business owners and look forward to continuing my outreach to businesses throughout the summer months.

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to a few community events that my Constituency Office will be participating in the first couple of weeks of June.

June 3: Evansdale Community League Family Solar Fun-Day at Evansdale Community League from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. 9111-150 Ave NW.  My office will be participating in this event, and sponsoring the prizes for the coloring contest.  Please drop by and say hello.

June 4: Super Hero Day at Northmount Community League Park from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 9208-140 Ave NW.  Everyone is welcome to come dressed as your favorite super hero!  Games, food, and tons of prizes.  The event is sponsored by Councillor Tony Caterina, Dickinsfield Amity House, Northmount Community League, Edmonton Public Library, Londonderry Branch and my Constituency Office.

June 6: Health and Wellness Fair at the North Edmonton Seniors Association from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  The location is the Northgate Lions Seniors Recreation Centre at 7524-139 Ave and our office will be participating in this event as well.  Please drop by and say hi.

June 8: CDI College Edmonton North Massage-A-Thon 2017.  Proceeds from the events of the day will go to the Edmonton Fire Fighters Burn Treatment Society.  CDI College is located in North Town Centre, #104, 9450-137 Ave.  My office will be participating and I will be taking part in the dunk tank from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., so please drop by and support this event for a great cause.
